Heritage Orchestra 2017
Our next show heralds what is now becoming an annual fixture – the return of the ever popular Heritage Light Orchestra and Singers with their inspirational leader Neil Streeter. Back at QMC on 8 July with a 7.15pm for 7.45 start, the Concert will be entitled ‘’ All at Sea’’ something of a misnoma as these performers can never be described as remotely fitting this description.The music and lyrics of course relate to sea and sea travel. The programme will include signature tunes from a number of radio and television pieces of a nautical nature alongside songs from Shows and Films and Gilbert & Sullivan that are set by, on, or even under the sea!
There will be a special ‘guest’ appearance by The Belles of St Martin’s Choir ( led by Theresa Lunn) who will remind the audience that ‘’All the Girls love a Sailor’’ as well as joining the audience and Heritage Solo Singers in a rousing finale of songs from Henry Woods ‘’ Fantasia on British Sea Songs’’.
The Concert this year will feature in The Basingstoke Festival for The Community, due recognition for the work done by Neil in frequently bringing together these wonderful local musicians and singers. We in The Basingstoke Lions , working as we do in the Community, are also quite chuffed to be associated with the Festival especially in our 50th Anniversary year!!
At the Concert you will receive the customary warm Lions welcome and the pleasures of bar refreshment at silly Lions prices.
