Newsletter - January 2017

It is difficult to describe the nail biting tension that precedes each of our fundraising endeavours. Will we get an audience? Will we break even? Will we make sufficient to enable us to help those who have no other source of assistance? Even with a brilliant group like ABBA Sensation there is always that niggling uncertainty. Fortunately the eternal attraction of that wonderful music won out and 180 people braved the bad weather to come out and enjoy themselves at QMC on the 21st. This is the fourth time that the Group has appeared for us and they certainly live up to their name. Their performance was electrifying and  the audience of took full advantage it by dancing with  great enthusiasm and almost as much skill. It was obviously thirsty work because they also made a very good attempt at drinking the bar dry and  bought raffle tickets like they were going out of fashion. The whole evening put everyone in great good humour  and gave a marvellous boost to our  Charity Account of £1250.

EASTER EGGS: If you visit your local over the next couple of months the odds are that youíll see a very large chocolate Easter Egg being raffled. We provide the Eggs and, if the pub supports a specific charity, half of the proceeds can be donated to that charity. The other half goes into our Charity Account. So please do support.

08/04/2017 QUIZ NIGHT: Come along and pit your wits against our notorious question master. Contact Philip Wilson Tel: 01256 352393 or to book your table. Remember we can take only 22 tables.

WELFARE: In the current climate the failure of a domestic appliance can represent an insurmountable problem for many families and a high proportion of our income is spent meeting such needs brought to our attention by Social Services.
